Students above grade level are usually capable of high performance. However, these students may require educational programs and experiences different from or in addition to those provided by the regular school program.
Students who are above grade level can make it on their own. They can succeed without help.
Students with superior intellectual development do not automatically succeed if proper instruction and counseling do not occur. Many high school dropouts had previously been identified as gifted and talented.
Students who are above grade level are at risk for underachievement during the educational years and on their jobs during their adult years.
